Lacee and Chris were such rockstars and capturing their Lake Crescent elopement was a blast! The couple originally planned to tie the knot at Mt Rainier, but I helped them pivot to Olympic National Park which ended up being a better fit their elopement vision, not to mention it was closer to home. After all was said and done, we all were so glad that they made the change because of how amazing their day turned out! Read below to get a peek into their day and learn how to elope at Lake Crescent.
Lacee + Chris: A Day to Remember
After getting ready at their hotel, Lacee and Chris headed to Lake Crescent for their elopement. As is common in the PNW, it was raining which made for a moody vibe that I loved! Lacee walked down the “aisle” and they held their ceremony with the lake in the background. Lacee’s mom officiated, which was seriously the sweetest, and the couple exchanged beautiful handwritten vows. Their elopement also featured umbrellas from a trip they took to Japan, which I thought was a fun touch! After post-ceremony family photos, the couple and I explored the area. I loved getting to capture them in several different environments, including by the lake and in the forest!
How to Have a Lake Crescent Elopement
Lake Crescent is seriously one of the most beautiful places for you to have your elopement! Here are a few things you need to know if you’re thinking about tying the knot here.
Obtain a Special Use Permit
Since Lake Crescent is within Olympic National Park, you’ll need to fill out a special use permit and pay the $50-$100 fee. Make sure to send in the permit well in advance just in case it takes a while to process!
Book Your Lodging
If you’re looking for a rustic lodge right by the lake, then I recommend checking out the Lake Crescent Lodge! Built in 1915, this historic property is surrounded by fir and hemlock trees and offers stunning views of the water and surrounding mountains. There are also several Airbnbs nearby, and Port Angeles is only about 20 miles away with even more options.
Choose Your Location and Any Activities
Lake Crescent is large, and many spots are perfect for an elopement! A few of my favorites are Marymere Falls, East Beach, and the dock by Lake Crescent Lodge. Also, be sure to plan an activity or two while you’re in the area. Whether it’s paddling on the lake or hiking along one of the many nearby trails, take this opportunity to add a little adventure to your special day!
