Moody Columbia River Gorge Engagement

a newly engaged couple embracing each other in the Columbia River Gorge.

When Brooke and Leigh reached out to me to shoot their Columbia River Gorge engagement session, I of course said yes! I had the most magical time capturing their love in the moody weather and am so excited that they booked me for their wedding as well. Check out this blog to learn about the couple and why I love the Columbia River Gorge so much!

A Little Bit About Brooke & Leigh

Getting to know my couples is one of my favorite things about being an Oregon engagement photographer! Brooke and Leigh love hiking with their dogs Willow and Bagel, checking out local restaurants and breweries, and cuddling at night watching a movie. They’re also true adventurers and actually got engaged on the summit of Neahkanie Mountain along the Oregon Coast!

The Columbia River Gorge is an important place for the couple, so it only made sense that we chose that location for their engagement photos. The couple brought along their dogs to be a part of the shoot, which I am always a big fan of! Incorporating pets into your engagement session always makes the pictures so much more personal and fun. Plus, when you’re looking back on your photos years from now, it’ll make memories that much more special!

Why You Should Have a Columbia River Gorge Engagement Session

The Columbia River Gorge is seriously one of my favorite places in the entire Pacific Northwest! Here are just a few of the reasons why the gorge is perfect for your engagement session.

Easily Accessible for Everyone

I love how accessible a Columbia River Gorge engagement session is! Only 30 miles east of Portland, you feel like you’re in a completely different world, surrounded by picturesque mountain peaks, the mighty Columbia River, and dreamy evergreen forests. The gorge also has adventures for those of all abilities, and you’re guaranteed an epic view no matter where you go!

Beauty at Every Turn

With its waterfalls, cliffs, evergreen forests, and mountain views, the Columbia River Gorge has countless backdrops perfect for engagement photos. Some of my favorite spots include Latourell Falls, a stunning 249-foot waterfall, and Government Cove, a gorgeous viewpoint with unobstructed views of the river and the Cascade Mountains. In fact, Government Cove is where Brooke and Leigh had their engagement session!

Local Eateries

No Columbia River Gorge engagement session would be complete without checking out some of the area’s incredible food and drink options. There are several restaurants, breweries, and wineries you can visit, but for something more fun and unique, head to one of the U-pick farms in the area for fresh berries! Whatever you choose to do, you won’t go hungry!

Brook and Leigh’s Columbia River Gorge engagement session was seriously so magical.
