One of my favorite wedding venues in Portland is a garden themed venue located in the heart of the city. Blockhouse PDX is not only a beautiful venue inside and out, but it’s also the perfect place for couples who want to include a bit of nature into their day. Keep reading to learn more about how Lucy and Jordan planned their Blockhouse Portland wedding and see some of the special details they incorporated.
How Lucy + Jordan Got Their Blockhouse Portland Wedding
After their adventurous engagement at Silver Falls Park (stay tuned for a blog post coming soon), Lucy and Jordan set out to start planing their intimate wedding in Oregon. Their vision was filled with good food, lots of music, and good times with loved ones. They wanted their wedding day to feel like they were getting married in the outdoors with a fancy dinner party afterwards and that’s exactly what they got!
After seeing one of my recent weddings at Blockhouse PDX, the couple decided that this was the wedding venue for them. One of the reasons Lucy and Jordan were so drawn to planing a Blockhouse Portland wedding is because of the venue’s location. Tucked away in Pomarius Nursery, Blockhouse is a wedding venue that is filled with nature! Imagine a tiny downtown studio bursting with plants in every window and corner. This is exactly what Blockhouse feels like and it reminded the couple of one of the first places they had ever lived together. I absolutely LOVE Blockhouse and enjoy every time I get to photograph in this incredible space and Lucy and Jordan’s wedding was no exception.
Winter Garden Wedding at Blockhouse PDX
Lucy and Jordan’s Blockhouse Portland wedding was so beautiful and special. We started the day with getting ready photos of Lucy and Jordan at their beautiful home. Their three dogs were present through almost the whole day and even had roles in the wedding ceremony!
After the couple finished getting ready, they shared their first look in their hotel room at the gorgeous Hoxton Hotel in downtown Portland. There, they exchanged gifts with each other followed by wedding photos in the lobby of the hotel. We then headed to the nursery where we took LOTSS more photos of the happy couple along with their wedding party and family photos. Part way through the day we experienced some rain but that didn’t stop us from getting some amazing photos!
Their Blockhouse Portland wedding ceremony was held in the Orangerie by Pomarius, a beautiful canopy covered area. All three of the couple’s dogs were present and their oldest pup even got their own chair right up front!
Their reception included some special touches and a few traditional and non-traditional elements such as their first dance during cocktail hour, dinner from one of their favorite restaurants, the wedding shoe game, evening dancing, complete with a sparkler send off. Lucy and Jordan love crating and building things together, so a few of the details and decorations they included held extra special meaning. I absolutely love how this couple was so intentional in planning not just a beautiful Portland wedding day, but also a day filled with lots of love and intention!
