Did you know one of the best ways to make your elopement day even more special is by including activities in your day? Catherine and Dev had an adventurous Oregon sand dunes elopement and even tried sand boarding together for the first time! Keep reading to see more from this incredible and fun elopement shoot!
Catherine + Dev’s Adventurous Oregon Sand Dunes Elopement
This Oregon sand dunes elopement with Catherine and Dev was absolutely amazing! I teamed up with Emily Skye Photography to plan an elopement styled shoot at the sand dunes in Oregon. For this shoot we really wanted to showcase just how adventurous an elopement day can be. We reached out to Catherine and Dev and asked the couple if they wanted to try sand boarding on the Oregon sand dunes for this elopement shoot and although neither of them had much experience sand boarding, they enthusiastically said YES!
We started out this Oregon sand dune elopement in a similar way that many elopements start: with the couple spending time getting ready. Catherine and Dev took a bubble bath together and then Kelli Thomsen helped Catherine with her hair and makeup. After the couple was ready in their elopement attire, we all headed out to the Oregon sand dunes. There, Catherine and Dev tried sand boarding and had a blast trying out a new activity and learning this sport together. Afterward, they held their ceremony in the sand dunes (shoutout to Almanac Aurora who provided their stunning florals) and exchanged handwritten vows and rings.
Once their ceremony finished, we wandered around the dunes, taking couple photos and soaking in all the amazing views around us. As golden hour shifted to blue hour, Catherine and Dev enjoyed a beautiful celebration picnic and enjoyed the delicious cake and sweets from Fat Cupcake.
Why You Should Consider Including Activities into Your Oregon Adventure Elopement
An elopement is so much more than just taking pretty pictures or exchanging vows (although both those things are very important and meaningful.) An elopement is all about creating a day that feels authentic to you and allows you to celebrate your love, your way!
One of the best ways to create a meaningful and memorable elopement day is by including activities. I often tell couples that when choosing which activities to include in their elopement to think about activities that feel most like the two of you. Whether that’s going wine tasting at a vineyard, canoeing on the coast, or trying a new sport together, the options for your adventure elopement are endless!
Your activity can also be something that you’ve done before or something you’ve always wanted to try together as a couple. For this elopement shoot, Catherine had never been sand boarding before and Dev had only done it once so they were both pretty new which made trying this activity exciting and memorable.
When it comes to planning an adventure elopement, or any elopement for that matter, there is no right way to do it! All that matters is that you plan a day filled with moments that matter to you!
