I love any chance I get to visit Washington and take Mt Rainier engagement photos with my couples! This national park is filled with SO many incredible viewpoints perfect for hiking engagement photos. Last summer I had the chance to shoot Shelby and Nick’s adventure engagement session in this gorgeous park and experience some incredible views. Keep scrolling to see what we witnessed toward the end of the session!
How Shelby + Nick Got Engaged and Chose Paradise for their Hiking Engagement Photos
Shelby and Nick got engaged on their three year dating anniversary. Nick took Shelby out for the evening and the couple stopped by a frozen lake in the middle of nowhere, under a full moon. There he popped the question in the most romantic setting. Talk about magical!
The couple reached out to me to photograph their winter wedding and wanted include some summer engagement photos at Mt Rainier. They were especially drawn to outdoor adventure photos and I knew, Paradise at Mt Rainier was just the place!
Paradise: an Incredible Location for Your Mt Rainier Engagement Photos
If you’re a couple who loves the outdoors, mountain views, and lush wildflower fields, then Mt Rainier might be just the place to celebrate your recent engagement! Conveniently located near Seattle, Mt Rainier National Park is home to Washington’s tallest peak. The park is surrounded by several national forests and state parks, giving you endless engagement location options to choose from both inside and outside the park.
Within the park, there are two main areas: Paradise and Sunrise. Both have incredible but very different views of the mountain’s peak. To learn more about the different sides of the park, check out my blog post by clicking on the link below.
No matter which side of the park you choose, one thing to consider when taking engagement photos in the mountains is clouds. Because of the higher elevation, you may have clouds that come out and cover the mountain view.
For Shelby & Nick’s Mt Rainier engagement photos, the mountain was completely covered in clouds when we first started shooting. Towards the end of the session though, the sky started to clear forming some awesome lenticular clouds over the mountain. The clouds combined with the glowing sunset and pink sky, made for the most incredible views! I always advise couples to keep an open mind and embrace whatever weather comes your way. You never know how it might turn out!
There is nothing I love more than getting to experience incredible places in nature with my couples. Whether it’s an adventure engagement session in the mountains, or a foggy elopement on the coast, these are the moments I love to capture.
